Forum Post: RE: CC1200 4-GFSk settings

Martin,

Thanks for the quick reply, detailed response and the XML settings file.

Unfortunately, the device performs very poorly with the configuration settings you provided. Using the Smart Studio PER count under Packet RX mode, our PER was measured at 50%.  That's in a cabled setup with received power of -75 dBm. I then varied Fdev and RBW in a series of tests (all other parameters remaining the same as in the CFG file) but never got the PER below 20%. 4-GFSK modulation never seemed to perform acceptably for any combination of RBW an Fdev I tried.

Moving on, and per your suggestion, we ran the default 500 Kbps, 2-FSK PER test and got glorious results - less than 1% PER. In an effort to do no harm, I changed only the modulation setting to 4-GFSK,reset the symbol rate to 250 Ksps (to attain the previous 500 Kbps rate) and re-ran the PER test again. This time the PER went up to 25% at a received power of -75 dBm. Varying the RBW would reduce PER a little but not much. Likewise, increasing the deviation also helped a little - but, again, not much.

Any other parameter adjustment hints?

Thanks,

Mark
