Forum Post: ez430-rf256x flashing problem

Hey guys, I'm attempting to flash some custom code to my ez430-rf256x through either IAR or FET-Pro430. For sake of simplicity, lets remove my custom code from the equation. I made a copy of the flash memory on the device (in FET-Pro43) before doing anything else. I've been able to use the penguin-demo just fine as well. The ez430 comes with the source for the application and also a precompiled binary (.d43). If I try to flash the precompiled binary, or compile my own from the original soure code, after I'm done flashing the image, both the blue and red lights flash simultaneously (indicating a problem.) However, if I flash my original memory-dump (.hex) back to the device, it works fine. I'm using a full version of IAR 5.4.1 and I'm using the newest version of FET-Pro430. I also tried "Download and Debug" from IAR, and it acts like it was successful, but after stepping through a few lines of code IAR crashes. One thing I've noticed is that my original flash dump (.hex) is about 800k, but the precompiled binary (.d43) that came with the package is only about 500k. I'm sure thats not the problem, as I assume that the hex dump contains empty parts of the memory (FFFF), but I just thought I'd mention it. One other problem I've noticed is that when I try to "Blank Check" in FET-pro430, it never finishes and hangs the app. I'm not sure it matters since I'm still able to flash the original hex memory dump back without doing this 1st, but I'm sure this is just another indicator that something is wrong... Can anyone offer me any help? I'm beginning to get super-frustrated here...
