Forum Post: CC2540 USB bootloader & board thickness effect on antenna

Hi there,

I've recently combined the USB dongle and miniDK designs to get essentially a USB enabled keyfob. The pinout is identical to that of the keyfob with the obvious addition of the USB data lines & transmission line resistors/caps.
I've flashed the bootloader onto the device but it's not being detected by the computer. When I do the same process with the USB dongle it's picked up instantly.

I'm under the impression that the bootloader only required the data lines and 32MHz clock to work, is this correct? As the source is not provided there's no way for me to be able to tell if it depends on anything else. Could the reason for it not working be linked to pin changes between my board and the USB dongle?

Also, what sort of effect does greatly reducing board thickness have on the antenna? I've changed the impedance matching traces to appropriate size for board height but am unsure how to change the antenna for the same.

Thanks for your help
