Hi Amy,
Per TI Obsolescence Policy:
TI standard policy on the lifetime of devices, the following paragraph applies:
We are not able to forecast future market demand for a TI device and accordingly, we are not in a position to speculate on how long a device will remain in production. There is a multitude of factors that affect the lifetime of a device. Market demand, process efficiency, device reliability, and technology trends are all considered when TI decides how it will allocate its limited resources. Nonetheless, it is TI's intention to maximize customer service with a reliable source of product supply for as long as TI practically can to optimize our long-term customer/supplier relationship.
Texas Instruments is committed to provide notification of Product Obsolescence and offer a Life Time Buy (LTB) opportunity, where applicable.
TI allows up the 12 months for an order to be place from the date of notification and allows an additional 6 months to take delivery of the ordered product.
This policy is accessible to customers through the Quality link on any Product Folder page, such as:
Covered in our Quality Manual ( http://focus.ti.com/quality/docs/gencontent.tsp?templateId=5909&navigationId=12841&contentId=52804 ) Section 5:
I would be more concerned with LSR continuing to produce the modules . . any assurances there?
