Hi there,
I have been evaluating the audio quality of SLAC for my application. I use SLAC in the 2mbps radio mode to gain 3dB of sensitivity. These 3dB are very precious for my application (wireless mic) as I need the best transmission range I can get.
Unfortunately I have noticed that SLAC's audio quality can be very poor on some audio material. I tried the SLAC compression algorithm on an acoustic guitar using the TI purepath evaluation board and I can hear very distinct "distorsion like" artifacts on the audio. These artefacts are very present on sustained notes for instance. I cannot rely on SLAC's audio quality for my application. I find it very unusual to have such artefacts on a slightly lossy audio codec. Is this a known issue ? Are there any plans to improve the SLAC codec ?
Thank you.
